More detailed information exists on the local impacts of climate change in Africa – but it’s unclear exactly how this knowledge can be used to inform policymaking. With leading research centres, CDKN is supporting the development of African expertise to apply this regional data to decision making and ensure it’s relevant to Africa’s knowledge needs.

CDKN supported the drafting of the climate change section for the Government of Zimbabwe's Medium Term Plan (2011 - 2015). The section establishes the need to have a national climate change policy and integrate climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies in economic and social development policies and programmes.

CDKN has supported the development of two insightful reports on including land in the climate change solution, researched and written by the Terrestrial Carbon Group.

In response to demand from a range of practitioners and government officials in developing countries, CDKN is funding and commissioning a new study to help decision makers assess tools for climate compatible development. This comparative analysis will consider a range of donor, private sector, NGO and country-led methodologies for climate compatible development strategy building and planning.

CDKN commissioned Inter Press Service (IPS) to produce a series of news articles on climate and development issues in the run up to COP-16 in Cancun, Mexico, in December 2010.

This project, undertaken by LEAD Pakistan, works with the Government of Pakistan to systematically strengthen its climate negotiations capacity.

AGF members asked CDKN to help developing country decision-makers to respond to the AGF's recommendations. CDKN supported climate finance experts at Vivid Economics to prepare reports on the opportunities and risks presented by the AGF’s findings to countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Small Island Developing States.

CDKN has been working with FCFA and the Wikimedia Foundation to enhance the quality and accessibility of climate change information on the world's largest online encyclopaedia.

CDKN has been working to promote non-motorised transport (NMT) in Nairobi, one of Africa's fastest growing cities, since November 2019.
