The objective of this project was to integrate adaptation into climate change in city planning and in the management of key economic sectors.

CDKN provided technical support to the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and the African Group of Negotiators (AGN) at the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP-17). Accounting for suppressed demand means that development projects, including those that provide or extend basic services to the poor, can claim more carbon credits and generate greater carbon finance revenue.

Pakistan’s weather is becoming increasingly volatile, with climate-related disasters on the rise. To try and prepare the nation ahead of future events, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority has asked CDKN to help it incorporate ‘climate resiliency’ into its post-disaster reconstruction efforts.

This project identifies successful climate compatible development (CCD) models in sub-Saharan Africa which have different combinations of stakeholders in complex and dynamic governance and political economy contexts. Poverty alleviation, partnerships and sharing experiences are central to this project.

This project scoped the potential for trilateral cooperation between China, Africa and the EU on the development of Low Carbon Zones (LCZs) in African countries, focussing on Ethiopia and Zambia.

The Government of Mozambique with the support of different partners including CDKN, has developed the Mozambique Climate Change and Development (CCD) Combined Work Programme. This work programme is a direct response to climate change as Mozambique is one of Africa's most vulnerable countries to climate change.

Access to modern energy remains a major challenge for many developing countries. Modern energy services are fundamental for human development and for those living in extreme poverty- a lack of access to modern energy services has adverse impacts including increasing inequality. The TIPEE tool was developed by HELIO International to help policy makers check how well national energy policies are contributing to ecodevelopment (sustainable and equitable development).

The focus of this 6 months project is to support the Government of Pakistan in developing and scoping a nationally appropriate programme of work on climate compatible development which will build on work done on climate change in Pakistan and connect the government’s newly approved National Climate Change Policy to action on the ground.

GIZ and CDKN are collaborating to strengthen the access and use of national and international climate finance in Indonesia and Viet Nam. The project seeks to explore the climate funding options available to Indonesia, Viet Nam and strengthen the capacities of the government to optimise these opportunities for enabling climate compatible development.
