Climate change is one of the most complex issues addressed by humanity.

The Energy, Ecodevelopment and Resilience in Africa (EERA) project will develop national energy strategies in Benin, Mali and Togo that take into account the impacts of climate change while meeting other development goals.

This project aims to build a national renewable energy knowledge base for Sierra Leone from which an inclusive and participatory national renewable energy policy may be developed.

The Shubh Kal project aims to strengthen community knowledge and voice on climate change impacts and adaptation by increasing their input into local research and policy dialogues and enabling communities to share their experiences of adapting to climate change.

A research team has been set up to generate scientific information on possible options and GHG mitigation scenarios for Peru with representatives from the following sectors: agriculture, energy, forestry, industrial processes, transport, waste and a macro-economic team.

The Pacific Island nations, consisting of many low-lying islands or areas with large population and infrastructure concentrations in the coastal zone, are at risk of climate-related disasters such as extreme weather events and sea-level rise. As many Pacific Island nations rely on their natural capital, the impact of climate-related disasters on their ecosystems and actions taken to mitigate climate risks are critical to the on-going resilience of their populations.

CDKN has partnered with the Meridian Institute to bring together a variety of advocacy fund stakeholders for a series of events which will discuss how best to support negotiators in international climate change negotiations.

The LRI's objectives are to make its services available to as many poor and climate vulnerable developing countries as possible for free, ensure that these countries have a strong voice in the negotiation process and contribute meaningfully to a new climate deal, build and strengthen networks of legal experts from the South.

Coasts are regions of great importance for human well-being and are of national economic importance for coastal states. Coastal ecosystems provide numerous ecosystem services supporting a significant proportion of the world’s population, particularly in developing countries, but are some of the most vulnerable areas to climate change.

This project will review the effectiveness of various initiatives (including CDKN’s), for supporting international negotiators (in climate change and other fields) and make recommendations to inform CDKN’s work.

The overarching aim of this project was to increase the effectiveness of the progressive voice in the negotiations by bringing together developing countries that show leadership (or the potential for leadership) within the negotiations.

The Climate Finance Advisory Service (CFAS) is a platform through which negotiators, policy makers and advisors in the poorest and most climate vulnerable countries can access bespoke information and guidance needed to effectively participate in global climate finance negotiations.
