The Global Islands’ Vulnerability Research, Adaptation, Policy and Development (GIVRAPD) project will integrate scientific and local knowledge from four comparative ‘learning study’ sites in the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean by using a common, community-based vulnerability assessment (CBVA) framework.

This project investigates the coping strategies developed by the families in rural areas in the Department of Atlántico, Colombia, which were affected by the hard winter, or rainy season, that hit Colombia in the last year.

The projects aims to provide a regional model for the integration of climate change information into risk reduction and rural development planning at the landscape scale that takes stakeholder perceptions, aspiration, and constraints more fully into account while bringing DRR and CCA processes into closer interaction within institutional and policy spaces.

This project aims to provide monetary support to the Coalition for Rainforest Nations (CfRN) in order to continue and scale up its advocacy role to support LDC countries to include the protection of rainforest and coastal marine ecosystems within the UNFCCC and other international forum.

CDKN’s support strengthened the ‘community of practice’ working on community based adaptation (CBA) by facilitating their engagement with policy-makers and practitioners working on traditional adaptation practices.

Colombia’s agricultural sector is particularly vulnerable to climate changes forecast for the coming decades. The nation therefore needs to shape strategies that can enhance the the sector’s resilience to climate change.

The Southern African Power Pool’s (SAPP) has planned an integrated expansion which includes more than 6,300 MW of new large scale hydropower with at least another 6,500MW under discussion within the Zambezi River Basin. CDKN is supporting research that examines the interaction between climate change, irrigation and hydropower in the Basin.

This project will undertake a study on the vulnerability of the energy sector to the impacts of climate change in Tajikistan and develop an innovative methodology for this process. It will add a regional overview to highlight the trans-boundary issues. The studies will assess Climate Risk Assessment of Energy Infrastructure, Climate Risk Mitigation and Adaptation and Cost-Benefit Analysis of the Climate Risk Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies.

CDKN will be providing in-depth support to low carbon development in Peru (Climate-Change Plan), specifically through the Mitigation Action Plans and Scenarios (MAPS) process, which constitutes Phase 1 of the CCPlan.

The MAPS-Chile project will develop emission trajectories through research, modelling, and simulation results.

In this project CDKN will help to integrate climate change considerations into Cartagena's Zoning Plan, and update the assessment of Cartagena’s vulnerability to the effects of climate change.

The Ethiopian Environmental Protection Agency (through DFID Ethiopia) asked CDKN to provide procurement and programme management services to enable the delivery of IPLAN24.
