Amazonia and Indonesia are uniquely rich in land, water, and natural resources; their forests provide vital ecosystem services that underpin growing economies and people’s wellbeing.

In both regions there are competing and uncoordinated demands for natural resources across different sectors as well as varying agricultural production targets and energy security needs. Accelerating climate change is further putting increasing pressures on these resources.

The water-energy-food (WEF) nexus is an emerging framework to understand resource trade-offs and interdependencies between different sectors and across scales.

The webinar explored these issues and introduced two CDKN projects that are analysing the actors and governance arrangements that influence the outcomes of water-energy-food resource trade-offs in Amazonia and Indonesia to identify how emerging climate compatible development policies can account for these resource interdependencies across scales.
