Climate Justice: Youth perspectives from the global South
Climate Justice: Youth perspectives from the global South
In October, the Justice in a Changing Climate (CDKNJ) project announced the recipients of eleven climate justice awards of $2 000 each to implement climate justice projects of their choosing in their communities. These young people from the majority world (mostly from Africa) have designed projects that will empower their communities, promote sustainable practices, raise awareness about climate-related challenges faced by vulnerable populations, and spark important conversations. Collectively they hope to influence the conceptions and definitions of climate justice, bringing the perspectives of the majority world to bear.
To hear their perspectives we have compiled this video. The video captures their passion for driving positive change and offers valuable insights on how they think we can address climate and justice issues at both local and global levels.
They acknowledge that achieving a just climate future requires unity among people from different backgrounds, cultures, and age groups. Their enthusiasm is contagious as they eagerly anticipate working together towards common goals - goals that go beyond geographical boundaries and bridge generational gaps.
This video serves as more than just an inspiring output to the potential within our youth; it encapsulates hope for a better tomorrow. It showcases how these extraordinary individuals are determined to create lasting change by addressing climate justice head-on. As we witness their unwavering dedication and determination, we cannot help but feel optimistic about what lies ahead.
These young leaders are set to make an indelible impact on their communities and bring about meaningful change. It's time to listen, learn, and amplify their powerful narratives for a more inclusive and impactful movement.
