Context

It is more critical than ever to support the development of locally-led, innovative adaptation practices, tools and technologies in communities from developing countries. However, there is a significant lack of finance available for climate adaptation solutions, especially from the private sector. The AF-EU-UNDP Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) programme is providing 15 micro and 29 small grants to local entities to support innovation for effective, long-term adaptation to climate change.

Project objective

AFCIA aims to support the development and diffusion of innovative adaptation practices, tools, and technologies, and generate an evidence base for implementing entities and other funds to scale up.

CDKN, as part of the Resilience Evidence Coalition with the Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) and the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD), is providing knowledge brokering and capacity strengthening support to AFCIA grantees. The objective of this knowledge management and sharing function is to document and disseminate lessons learned from the AFCIA grantees, leading to the adoption or replication of introduced innovations with global and local entities.

Project outputs

The project’s key outputs are:

Partners: International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) and the Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) through the Resilience Evidence Coalition.
