Carbon and water footprints in three Andean cities: La Paz, Quito and Lima

CDKN and the Development Bank for Latin America supported the Carbon Footprint and Water Footprint Projects in three Andean cities: La Paz, Quito and Lima, In order to promote actions for mitigation and adaptation to climate change at the municipal level.

Project : Secure safe water in sub-Saharan Africa

This project aims to create financial incentives for safe water and hygiene service providers by pioneering a water credits market through a Payment-By-Results (PBR) mechanism in rural Uganda.

Securing safe water in sub-Saharan Africa An innovative programme currently being piloted in Uganda hopes to address the issue of contaminated water through financial incentives for the maintenance of safe water sources and adequate hygiene. If successful, it may provide a model to be used elsewhere in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Project : Developing a carbon reduction, resources and opportunities toolkit for Kenya’s flower sector

Kenya’s flower sector contributed over £350 million to the national economy in 2011. The flower sector aims to develop a unified response to climate change through practical and localized accounting and management solutions for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, energy efficiency and water use.
