The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) has been commissioned by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) to communicate the findings of IPCC AR5 to decision-makers in developing countries.
The purpose of this initiative was to provide Latin American and Caribbean decision-makers reliable and relevant information on key aspects of climate compatible development and disaster risk management.
This project aims to strengthen the institutional capacity of planning departments in ministries and local governments in eight African countries by integrating water security and climate resilience into water-related development planning.
This initiative arose from the need to incorporate issues related to climate compatible development in the Caribbean, in order to raise awareness and publicise not only the threats but also the opportunities that climate change may bring.

Applications invited for climate change journalism fellowships
The fellowships are being offered by Panos South Asia as part of a Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) project for enhancing climate change awareness and understanding among journalists in South Asia.
The Shubh Kal project aims to strengthen community knowledge and voice on climate change impacts and adaptation by increasing their input into local research and policy dialogues and enabling communities to share their experiences of adapting to climate change.
With CDKN’s support, Panos South Asia launched the South Asia Climate Change Award (SACCA) Fellows Programme to improve media coverage and public debate around climate and development in South Asia.
This project aims to develop and deliver a set of training materials and workshops aimed at developing the knowledge and skills of the least developed and most climate vulnerable country negotiators.
