CDKN in Bonn for the June Climate Meetings (SB64)
This year, CDKN will be represented at the 64th sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SB64) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), taking place at the World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB) in Bonn, Germany, from 8 to 18 June 2026.
CDKN Programme Lead, Lisa McNamara, CDKN GESI Lead, Patricia Bamanyaki, and partners will contribute to four events, including a CDKN co-convened official UNFCCC side event with SouthSouthNorth, the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance and International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED).
Climate negotiators will meet to discuss a range of issues, including mitigation and adaptation, finance, technology and capacity-building, and prepare decisions for adoption at COP 31 in Antalya, Türkiye in November.

The opening plenary will reflect on the role of cities in multilevel governance amid global geopolitical changes. It will connect lessons learned to key global processes such as COP30, the New Urban Agenda Review, SDG 11, and UN reforms, while bringing together policymakers, experts, and scientists to shape a forward-looking agenda for climate action.
Lisa McNamara will speak in a plenary panel on the topic “Sketching the landscape: Cities in a changing climate governance environment post-COP30".
From principles to practice: Scaling finance and implementation of locally led adaptation

This CDKN co-convened official UNFCCC side event aims to explore how LLA can move from principle to practice by identifying pathways to scale and embed LLA within different sectors, within policies - in particular NAPs - in climate finance, and international climate negotiations.
CDKN’s Lisa McNamara will share practical lessons from implementing LLA across diverse country contexts, including experiences and recommendations emerging from a joint learning process on LLA with African implementing partners and community leaders.
Adrian Leitoro, Co-Founder of CDKN’s grantee, Nature and People as One (NAPO), will open the session by reflecting on why LLA is essential to effective and equitable climate action.
EbA Knowledge Day

EbA Knowledge Day will bring together experts, practitioners, and stakeholders to share knowledge and foster collaboration on ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA). It will include keynote presentations from leading speakers, interactive sessions and workshops, opportunities for networking with peers and discussions on the latest trends and challenges in EbA.
CDKN will be engaging with participants on the day, showcasing all our projects related to EbA.
Workshop on best practices and tools for strengthening the role of National Gender and Climate Change Focal Points - skills lab

Under the UNFCCC, countries are encouraged to appoint National Gender and Climate Change Focal Points (NGCCFPs) to integrate gender into climate action, a mandate strengthened through successive Gender Action Plans, including the Belém GAP. Over 125 countries have appointed NGCCFPs and this workshop aims to clarify roles, share best practices, and identify key capacity-building needs to strengthen their effectiveness.
In an interactive session focused on practical skills, Lisa McNamara, Patricia Bamanyaki, CDKN’s GESI Lead, and Arsema Andargatchew, CDKN Ethiopia Country Manager, will co-facilitate a 2-hour skills lab on "advocacy strategies for GESI integration in climate policy and action" for UNFCCC Focal Points and nominated party representatives.
