Climate change vulnerability and adaptation preparedness in Southern Africa
Climate change vulnerability and adaptation preparedness in Southern Africa
This report evaluate the state of preparedness for climate change adaptation in southern Africa. It is aimed at supporting the demands of state and non-state southern African actors for climate change adaptation finance and the efficient administration of such funds. The report details the findings of a desk study evaluating the state of knowledge on climate change vulnerability and adaptation preparedness in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe currently has no specific policy responseto climate change. Instead, fragmented responses are implied in a battery of sectoral policies, includingthose relating to environment and natural resources management, water resources management, agriculture and food security, and disaster management. There is a need to mainstream climate change adaptation in the policies and work programmes of various government ministries, and harmonise existing uncoordinated and fragmented pieces of legislation and strategies.
