The Africa Early Career Fellowship Podcast Series is part of CDKN's Amplifying Voices of African Researchers (AVAR) project. Through engaging conversations with emerging African researchers, the series shines a spotlight on locally led climate research and elevates African perspectives in climate action.
Hosted as part of the CDKN Africa Early Career Researchers Fellowship, the podcast provides a platform for fellows to share their research, discuss the real-world challenges they seek to address, and reflect on their journeys as African climate researchers.
About the AVAR project
The AVAR project was established to strengthen the visibility, influence and impact of African-led climate research in regional and global climate policy and practice. While Africa is among the regions most vulnerable to climate change, African researchers remain underrepresented in global research processes and decision-making spaces. The project responds to this challenge by supporting early career researchers to undertake interdisciplinary, policy-relevant research while building skills in communication, stakeholder engagement and knowledge brokering.
The broader AVAR initiative seeks to amplify African researcher voices, strengthen the science-policy-practice interface and increase opportunities for researchers to engage with national, regional and global climate processes. It is implemented in partnership with the University of Ghana and the University of Namibia.
About the podcast series
The podcast series was developed as a science communication and public engagement platform within the fellowship. Recognising that research creates greater impact when it is accessible to diverse audiences, the series enables fellows to communicate their work in a conversational format that resonates with policymakers, practitioners, civil society, students and the wider public.
Each episode features a fellow discussing their research and its relevance to communities across Africa. These discussions highlight innovative research, lived experiences and locally grounded solutions emerging from across the continent.
