CDKN project acknowledged for African good practice awards
A CDKN-funded project was shortlisted for the AfriCAN Climate award for good practice. The Carbon Reduction, Resources and Opportunities Toolkit (CaRROT) project aims to improve the Kenyan flower sector’s global competitiveness in view of climate change threats and opportunities. The toolkit was developed by Camco Advisory Services Kenya in collaboration with the Kenya Flower Council (KFC), Horticultural Crop Development Authority (HCDA).
The AfriCAN Climate awards recognises the achievements of individuals and organisations that have distinguished themselves in climate change adaptation and/or mitigation initiatives implemented in Africa. The adjudicators assessed a wide range of programmes for achieving eight principles of good practice, including knowledge and capacity building, community participation and inclusiveness, and monitoring and evaluation. The winning entry came from Lean Energy Solutions, an organisation that converts conventional fossil-fuel boilers and furnaces to operate on bagasse waste from sugar mills.
