CFAS launches new climate finance daily briefings service
Climate finance continues to dominate international climate change negotiations, occupying a central position in UNFCCC negotiations at the Conference of the Parties and inter-sessional meetings, and taking centre-stage at meetings of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Developing country involvement in, and influence over, these negotiations is essential for designing and bringing into operation an equitable global climate finance architecture. However it is often hindered by constraints on capacity to participate in discussions.
Since its launch earlier in 2013, the Climate Finance Advisory Service (CFAS) has been providing negotiators, board members and advisors from the poorest and most climate- vulnerable countries with bespoke information and guidance to help them effectively participate in complex global climate finance negotiations. This assistance has taken the form of rapid response advice, policy briefs and detailed newsletters on climate finance. You can find out more about the CFAS here, and if you have a climate finance query you can submit it directly to the CFAS here.
The CFAS Team is now pleased to announce an additional element to the service, the CFAS Daily Briefings. Produced at key meetings and negotiations by the CFAS expert team, the Daily Briefings will provide a concise, informative update on key discussions that have taken place during each day of discussions, substantive points of action or progress, likely agenda items for the following day or next meeting, and more.
The CFAS Daily Briefings will be launched at the meeting of the Standing Committee on Finance taking place from 27-30 August 2013 in Bonn. If you are interested in receiving the CFAS Daily Briefings, please sign up to the CFAS mailing list here, providing your full name and the country or organisation you represent.
