In collaboration with the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) and introduced by Kevin Watkins, ODI’s Chief Executive, this event is looking at the latest evidence on the linkages between climate change and human displacement, and its social, economic and cultural implications.
Climate change and migration expert Professor Dominic Kniveton of University of Sussex gives an overview on this complex, global landscape and shares the results of his team’s CDKN-sponsored study of climate-related displacement in Bangladesh.
Nick Rance screens clips from a new documentary film by tve (Television Trust for the Environment) and CDKN on the lives of Bangladeshis who see migration as an opportunity and a challenge in the face of climate change. Alex Randall of the Climate Outreach and Information Network (COIN) launches Moving Stories, a collection of testimonials from dozens of people who have been displaced by climate impacts.
H.E. Mohamed Mijarul Quayes, Bangladesh High Commissioner, provides a government perspective on the findings.
