Legislating the Paris Climate Agreement

Last year, representatives from 195 countries gathered in Paris to agree on a new climate agreement. Heralded as a diplomatic success, the future of the Paris Agreement lies in the capability of domestic nations to implement their national climate action plans, submitted in their NDC. Moderated by Edward King of Climate Home, this event will facilitate an interactive discussion between development organisations, donor agencies, legal professionals and representatives of foreign missions based in London with the aim of identifying the key legal challenges and priorities for climate legislation post-Paris. The issues raised in this discussion will feed into an expert workshop the following day to address the different approaches necessary in developing complex climate legislation.

This event will mark the launch of a new initiative by the legal community and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), offering expert legal advice to vulnerable countries in order to translate international climate ambition into action. The panel members will include:
