In this project, CDKN supported the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of El Salvador (MARN) to consolidate relevant institutions and contribute to the implementation of its National Climate Change Plan (NCCP).

This project is now in its second phase of promoting low-carbon footprint and climate-resilient development in cities, CDKN is working with the municipalities of Quito (Ecuador), La Paz (Bolivia) and Lima (Peru).

This research is examining the current institutional arrangements and challenges regarding integrated water-energy-food planning and decision making in Kenya, within the context of the new Constitution and the tensions regarding powers and functions between national and county level government.

Infrastructure development is seen as one of the key investment areas in enhancing water security in Africa.

This research will develop understanding of the interaction between emerging industrial policies and green economy strategies in Ethiopia, with a view to supporting concrete policy reforms that are in line with Ethiopia’s green economy ambitions and governance context.

In this project, the Netherlands Institute of International Relations (Clingandael), the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands, Oxford Policy Management and ClimateCare are exploring how political economy constraints and enablers resulting from institutional, business and political structures influence the ambition and implementation of national green growth plans

With case studies in India, Indonesia and the Philippines, this project will assess the climate finance needs and gaps for climate compatible development. The team will look at second-tier cities and explore how available financial opportunities can be harnessed to meet those climate finance needs.

CDKN is supporting the early design phase of a new facility, which would look to provide financial coverage for African governments on a longer time horizon, focusing on the prospective increased incidence of extreme weather events.

Resettlement may reduce urban residents' risk of suffering climate-related disasters, but it can also increase people’s poverty and vulnerability. A CDKN research project investigates which resettlement policies and practices are socially just and truly reduce future climate risks for individuals, urban regions and society.

CDKN is supporting the Regional Centre on Climate Change and Decision-Making to strengthen its impact in the region and by a conveyor for science and policy on climate change.

Out of the estimated 123,000 businesses in Rwanda around 98% are small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and around 84% of them are informal. Climate-related hazards impact many of these businesses in rural and urban areas, for example when landslides hot, transport routes are blocked off or when flooding occurs, production processes are disrupted. Support structures for enhancing the resilience of these small and medium sized businesses, are often not within their capacities.

Mass media plays a critical role in shaping public opinion, and is indispensable in reaching out to the public. This CDKN project aims to support African journalists in covering climate change related stories and the position of the African Group of Negotiators.
