Taking the examples of flash floods in Leh (2010) and Bramer (2006) districts in India, the project examines the policy positions adopted by district planners post disaster, and assesses the extent to which these integrate disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA) concerns into long term recovery and development planning.

Project : ESMAP: Africa Clean Cooking Energy Solutions

The International Energy Agency’s (IEA) estimates that by 2030 one billion people in sub-Saharan Africa will depend on biomass as their main energy source. Currently over 80% of people in sub-Saharann Africa depend on solid fuels such as charcoal and firewood– more than any other region in the world. CDKN is supporting the African Clean Cooking Initiative (ACCI), which is designed to support a market-driven approach to increase the use of clean cook stoves in Africa through addressing key market barriers.
