Project : Measuring REDD+; Agroforestry Carbon Sequestration through an integrated MRV system
The goal of this project was to research, develop and test methods to integrate community-based participatory carbon measurement and monitoring with remote sensing, GIS and web-enabled reporting tools. The methods developed through this project contributed to a Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) system for REDD + and agroforestry carbon sequestration activities. The 18-month project tested this approach with local communities in project sites in Lao PDR, Vietnam and Thailand, and developed an ‘MRV Guidebook for Integrating Participatory Community Carbon Measurement and Monitoring with Satellite Remote Sensing and GIS’. The project supported the integration of community participation in future national level REDD+ and carbon sequestration projects implemented in each country.
