The Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) hosted and facilitated four bi-annual informal dialogues (2 during 2014 and 2 during 2015). These are two-day meetings at the ECLAC facilities in Santiago de Chile and Peru attended by climate negotiators from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

These meetings aimed to provide a forum for informal discussion and continuous engagement on UNFCCC climate negotiations among LAC countries, in order to align LAC country interests and build LAC negotiator capacities.

The October 2014 dialogues included a day of presentations from regional think tanks. The technical background papers produced by these think tanks may be found here:

The LAC region in the face of climate change: perspectives on national policy and international cooperation
Reconciling development with the need to ‘decarbonize’ the economy
Engaging the productive sector in the climate change negotiations
Agriculture, forestry and other land-use in the climate negotiations: a Latin American perspective
How to finance low-carbon and climate-resilient development?
