Context

Access to climate knowledge remains a significant barrier to effective climate action in Ghana, particularly for women and marginalised groups. To address this, the project uses creative platforms such as traditional songs, TV series, podcasts, Virtual Reality, games, and community radio to amplify diverse voices and ensure climate information reaches vulnerable populations. This initiative enables inclusivity and accessibility and aligns with the CDKN Ghana programme’s mission to integrate gender and social inclusion into climate-resilient actions.

Project Objectives

  • Enhance climate literacy through creative and inclusive knowledge dissemination tools.
  • Promote gender equity by amplifying women’s voices in climate narratives.
  • Enhance community resilience through accessible and localised climate communication strategies.
  • Increase public engagement with climate issues using innovative media and technology.

Project Activities

Empower women’s groups to create and share traditional songs that advocate climate justice and adaptation strategies. Five (5) climate justice songs have been produced and aired on local radio across 100 communities.

Climate focus series TV show

Community radio show on disaster risk

Broadcasts in the local language (“Dagaare”) will educate over 200 communities about disaster preparedness and resilience strategies, especially against bushfires in some districts/municipalities in the Upper West region of Ghana.

Podcast on climate and health

Explores the intersection of climate change and public health, providing actionable insights for local and national audiences.

Virtual Reality (VR) and games for climate knowledge dissemination

It uses immersive experiences and interactive games to make complex climate concepts relatable and engaging for diverse audiences.
