Project : Planning for Climate Change (PlanCC) - Phase II
Project : Planning for Climate Change (PlanCC) - Phase II
The Planning for Climate Change (PlanCC) project was officially launched on the 26th of April 2012 in Lima, Peru. PlanCC has been designed by public, private and non-governmental institutions under the leadership of a Steering Committee, led by the Ministry of Environment (MINAM) and also involves the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the National Center for Strategic Planning (CEPLAN). The technical coordination is undertaken by Libélula and the financial support comes from the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE) and CDKN. The project seeks to develop sound evidence about possible climate change mitigation scenarios in Peru, strengthen capacities and lay foundations for long-term low carbon economic growth.

The goal of Phase II is to contribute to the design and development of public policies, tools and methodologies for developing low greenhouse gas emissions.
The information generated in Phase I is expected to contribute to the design and development of public policies and tools for the future implementation of mitigation options under the National Determined Contribution (NDC) assumed by Peru. During this new Phase, inputs for decision-makers will be generated through a participatory mechanism involving the state, private sector and other stakeholders, specifically on issues relating to enabling conditions for the future implementation of mitigation options and their associated co-benefits or benefits.
