NEWS: Call for participants – online journalist training on climate change reporting
Are you an African journalist? Would you like to learn more about climate change and how to report on the climate crisis?
Future Climate for Africa, together with leading experts, is hosting an online climate change journalist training on 5, 7 and 9 October 2020.
The aim of the training is to increase journalists’ understanding of climate change and their capacity to report on climate change issues in Africa.
The training will consist of three online workshop sessions (approximately 90 minutes each). It will also include a practical exercise where participants will identify and develop a climate-related news story that they will pitch to their editor. Story development will involve one-on-one mentoring from an experienced climate journalist to provide guidance as journalists develop this story.
- You must be an African journalist
- Strong proficiency in English as this will be the language of instruction for the training
- A sufficient internet connection to be able to attend all online sessions
If you would like to participate then please complete the online application form here by 21 September 2020 to be considered for the training.
Note that this is a competitive application process and spaces are limited to between 10 -15 African journalists.
