Yesterday, Ethiopia’s Environmental Protection Authority launched its CRGE Highlights newsletter. The monthly newsletter will communicate lessons learned from implementing Ethiopia’s Climate Resilient and Green Economy (CRGE) strategy. Desalegn Mesfin, Deputy Director General of the EPA sees the newsletter as a two-way knowledge exchange tool: “We would be pleased if this platform becomes an active discussion and deliberation forum on CRGE related matters.”

The first edition of the newsletters headlines an interview with Mesfin on the Sectoral Reduction Mechanism, the policy vehicle by which the CRGE strategy will be implemented. The Deputy DG highlights the global climate negotiations context and need for technology transfer, financing and capacity building in the development of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions. The newsletter also features articles on piloting the use of off-grid solar panels in rural areas, and a focus piece on the Ministry of Agriculture’s CRGE implementation unit.

For more information on CRGE Highlights, please contact Ato Belete Geda, Director for the Awareness and Education Programme in the EPA at crge.highlights@gmail.com.
