African countries agree to strengthen their meteorological services to reduce the impact of extreme weather events The third meeting of the African Ministerial Conference on Meteorology (AMCOMET) aimed to establish meteorological services to help save lives on the continent.

Hosted by UNECA's African Climate Policy Centre, the strong 'development first' message of the conference set the stage for 'Africa's CoP' in Durban. Participants called for solutions to climate change and development challenges shaped by Africans, and informed by Africa’s priorities.
