Simon is the independent Executive Chairman of CDKN, a global alliance of southern and northern organisations delivering innovative solutions for climate compatible development in developing countries.
From 1997 to 2009, Simon was the director of the ODI- Europe’s best known think tank on international development and humanitarian policy- and from 2001 to 2005, he was President of the Development Studies Association of the UK and Ireland. Simon has lived in Africa, South Asia, and South America. In 2007, he was made a CBE for services to international development.
