Policy and planning

Developing countries range from large, rapidly-growing economies such as China, India and Brazil to small, very low-emitting economies. For the first of these, embracing climate compatible development means adapting to climate change and improving human development while reducing the carbon intensity of economic growth. In smaller, more vulnerable economies, adapting to climate change and reducing poverty are at the heart of climate compatible development. But there are also opportunities to avoid emissions by identifying low-carbon development paths. To transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient future, developing countries need strong policy, institutional and financial frameworks, as well as a good evidence base and technical skills. CDKN’s vision is to see national frameworks for climate compatible development that are fully driven and supported by a wide range of stakeholders – frameworks based on long-term commitment, and with well-prioritised areas for action.

Land-use change, food security and climate change in Vietnam: A global-to-local modelling approach

his study, Land-use change, food security and climate change in Vietnam: A global-to-local modelling approach, presents an innovative modelling approach to visualise future land-use change patterns under different scenarios. The results can be used to evaluate policies such as the Green Growth and REDD strategies that are currently being developed and implemented. [more...]

Land Use, Food Security and Climate Change in Vietnam

This research paper, Land Use, Food Security and Climate Change in Vietnam, uses a novel global-to‐local approach that combines an economic (Computable General Equilibrium or CGE) model with a spatially explicit land use model to capture change at the global, national and landscape level for the period 2010 ‐ 2030 under three scenarios. A global-to-local modelling approach to land use dynamics in Vietnam: Potential effects of a high climate impact and a high economic growth ...

This research paper, A global-to-local modelling approach to land use dynamics in Vietnam: Potential effects of a high climate impact and a high economic growth scenario, presents an innovative assessment method which integrates a global macro-economic Computable General Equilibrium model with a spatial land use allocation model to analyse future land use patterns in Vietnam under various scenarios.
