Improving Transparency in Public Procurement

Public procurement is public policy tool, translating development finance into particular economic and social outcomes. However, it has also been globally identified as fountain head of corruption in the public service. The advisory note, while accepting the existing limitations of the transparency regime in public procurement process of the country, argues the Right to Information Act has the potential to perform as “powerful” proxy to catalyse and bring about greater transparency in the procurement process.
