Choiseul Province climate change vulnerability and adaptation assessment report: Solomon Islands – securing the future of Lauru now
This report focuses on the community as the central point of measuring vulnerability to climate change in Choiseul Province of the Solomon Islands. It discusses the factors that affect people’s resilience to the impacts of climate change at the community level. Given the close connectivity of livelihoods and natural resources in the region, ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) approaches are deemed an appropriate adaptation response in Choiseul Province. The report recommends a number of adaptation options addressing land, coastal, community and sea-based vulnerabilities. It underlines that, in order to develop an effective adaptation response, a multi-sectoral and multi-partner approach is required to adequately address the complexity of factors contributing to the people of Choiseul’s vulnerability and capacity to adapt to the effects of climate change.
