Bridge Over Troubled Waters: Linking Climate Change and Development | OECD

Insights from six country case studies - the Nepal Himalayas, the Bangladesh Sundarbans, Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro, the Nile in Egypt, coastal mangroves in Fiji, and agriculture and forestry in Uruguay are synthesised in this publication. The case studies review climate change impacts and vulnerabilities, analyse relevant national plans and aid investments with a focus on climate risks, and examine key systems where climate change is closely intertwined with development and natural resource management. The authors underscore the need for mainstreaming of climate change considerations in development activities as well as the challenges involved, and suggest various action, which include: - making climate information more relevant and usable - developing and appling climate risk screening tools - shifting emphasis to implementation, as opposed to developing new plans - encouraging meaningful coordination and the sharing of good practices.
