A well does not always lead to wellbeing

Sometimes, adaptation interventions can lead to unintended consequences. In Tamil Nadu, India, subsidies for borehole digging led to short-term improvements. But in the long-term, groundwater levels dropped, small farmers went into debt, and household wellbeing declined.
