WEBINAR: A NAMA for the electrification of Sialkot with photovoltaic technology
Tuesday 25 April 2017 14:00-15:00 British Summer Time (UTC+1); 18:00-19:00 Pakistan
Together with local partners PITCO, Ecofys analysed Sialkot’s industrial energy demand and the availability of renewable energy technologies in Pakistan. During the summer of 2015, over 100 Sialkot industrialists participated in workshops analysing their energy demands, the distribution among different company sizes and the renewable energy options available, along with associated costs, savings potential and emissions reductions. The project’s main objective was to evaluate the scope for renewable energy solutions to energy shortages among the SMEs that make up the industrial sector in Sialkot, and the potential role of NAMAs to support them. The project built understanding of the viability of renewable energy-based industrial solutions, particularly with regard to supporting industrial development and energy sustainability.
Based on the learnings of this project, the webinar will feature presentations from Katja Eisbrenner, Director of Ecofys, and Noemie Klein, Associate Director of Ecofys. It will cover the following:
- Engaging stakeholders in scoping solutions to challenges
- Narrowing down on photovoltaic rooftop options
- Measuring the benefits of the technological solutions
- Drafting implementation plans
- Raising awareness on international climate finance
- Designing a fundable project following a NAMA template.
