DRM Learning and Innovation Hub Asia

Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Management into Climate Compatible Development

Bangkok,19th – 21st June 2013

The CDKN DRM Asia Learning Hub will bring together innovators and project leaders in the field of Disaster Risk Management on the ground in Asia, alongside government officials, and DRM researchers and thought leaders from the CDKN network and elsewhere. There will be two main outcomes.

Firstly, for the project leaders themselves and those who support their work, there will be a chance to share learning and experiences to enhance their work at a local level, and learn what ideas might be moved forward and scaled up.

Secondly, we plan to produce an output document which is a ready resource and call-to-action for those working in key sectors at a national government level, in Asia and beyond. to enhance climate-related DRM. The working title of this report is:

Integrating DRM in key sectors: what does it take?

A framework to understand effectiveness of efforts to integrate DRM programming into key sectors

This report will become a resource for sector specialists in DRM, and may spark further research, writing and action in each of its theme areas. We also hope that it will be an influential input as governments meet in Japan in 2015 to adopt the successor to the existing Hyogo framework for action on disaster risk reduction
