CDKN Research Consultation
A Climate and Development Knowledge Network Research Consultation was held at the Royal Society on 24 September 2010. The event brought together 40 of the UK’s leading academics and researchers in climate and development, representing 35 institutions. The event was one of a series of regional consultations with research and policy-making communities on climate change and development in 2010 that will contribute to the research strategy of CDKN.
The meeting began with presentations from Simon Maxwell and Natasha Grist from CDKN, followed by words of support from Ken de Souza on behalf of DFID. A series of ‘power presentations’ from leading academics in the field of climate and development followed, from Vicky Pope (Met Office), Saleemul Huq (IIED), Jim Watson (University of Sussex), and Emma Tompkins (University of Leeds). Participants then moved on to a series of thematic breakout sessions and explored priority research gaps and needs for developing country policy-makers.
The event concluded with an invitation for participants to provide continued support and engagement with the CDKN research process as it strives to support cutting-edge and innovative research in climate compatible development.
