Reporting for Results-based REDD+ (RRR+) project: Dominica
The Environmental Coordination Unit of the Commonwealth of Dominica provided an update on the country’s REDD+ readiness at the First Global Conference for Reporting for Results-based REDD+, 30-31 January 2018 at Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei in Milan, Italy.
At the conference, the partners presented their achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. Read the conference blog to learn more about discussions there.
The presenters identified lack of data and loss of data and expertise as serious challenges facing Dominca in its efforts to become ready for Results-based REDD+ financing. As its first step, the Commonwealth of Dominica is seeking to create its National Reference Level of forest-related emissions. Notwithstanding the challenges, however, the Government also indicated its hopes that the RRR+ project will assist in training of government staff, in order to leave a more enduring legacy of REDD+ and forest emissions reporting capacity for the country – into the future.
