OPPORTUNITY: Invitation for expressions of interest – Communications and Media Support to CDKN Asia (Closed)
The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) aims to help decision-makers in developing countries design and deliver climate compatible development. CDKN does this by providing demand-led research and technical assistance, and channelling the best available knowledge on climate change and development to support policy processes at the country level.
CDKN’s Communication strategy is part of our overall and cross-cutting work on Knowledge Management. As CDKN moves into its third year the focus on communicating the innovations and best practices within our work is increasing. As we ‘find our voice’ and have stronger messages to convey, we are switching our editorial focus from communicating others’ stories to communicating more of our own, focusing in particular around CDKN’s priority themes and engagement countries. We will look for ways to capture lessons from CDKN’s country experience, research, and technical assistance work, and communicate them intelligently, so they feed in to national, regional and global policy change processes.
To achieve this objective CDKN Asia is looking for a communications officer to refine and deliver the CDKN communications and media strategy for Asia. This will involve increasing CDKN’s profile in traditional media through drafting columns and opinion pieces, soliciting the services of well known journalists as well as policy-makers and subject specialists to contribute to articles and blogs focused on CDKN’s thematic priorities and projects. It will also include raising the profile of CDKN Asia using the website (www.cdkn.org) and social media (including the CDKN email newsletter, Twitter, Facebook and blogs). Additionally, the role will involve identifying key climate change and development events in the region and engaging in them to share CDKN’s findings and experience.
We will be accepting applications from an organisation (a focal person is required) or an individual (but they must be contracted through a company or an NGO). It is expected that their activities will require an equivalent of a part time (50%) role. The individual will be line-managed by the CDKN Asia Knowledge Management team based in Islamabad and New Delhi. They will be required to have some contact with CDKN Global Knowledge Management team based in London.
The supplier should clearly explain how a close working relationship with the CDKN team, based largely in Islamabad, will be achieved. The option of working within CDKN’s Alliance Partner, LEAD Pakistan’s office, can be explored.
The role is for 1 year, with a 6-month review and a possible extension at the end of the year, and will start in mid June 2012 or as close to as possible.
The deadline for submitting the completed Selection Document was 31 May 2012.
