Following the launch of the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) on 11 March 2010, several news organisations have highlighted the importance of the network. Excerpts from two of the articles can be found below:

The Guardian - New Climate Network to help developing countries

"The Department for International Development (DFID) is set to launch an unprecedented global climate knowledge initiative, linking poor countries with a network of experts.

"The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) will have access to £50m over five years to co-ordinate the supply of research and policy information from thinktanks, NGOs and universities to governments and civil society organisations in up to 60 of the world's developing countries.

"Although developing countries already have access to a wealth of published information on climate change, the CDKN will to be able to custom tailor research to countries' demands, according to DFID."

SciDev.Net - Policymakers to get hotline to climate experts

"A £50 million (US$77 million) programme to help developing countries navigate the challenges of climate change began last week (11 March) with the announcement of the consortium that will oversee it.

"The network aims to help 60 developing countries access and share scientific information on the best way of tackling problems caused by climate change, and commission research. DFID said it will provide policymakers in developing countries with direct access to leading climate change experts."
