Research projects

This page outlines the research CDKN has funded, both past and present. Follow the links below for more information about individual projects, or visit our Research page for an overview of how the CDKN research programme works.

Current research programme

Projects sourced through an open, competitive research call process currently make up approximately half of our research programme. The remaining programme was designed and tendered by CDKN in consultation with our government partners. In either case, research builds on or compliments wider bodies of work in our priority countries, and under our four strategic themes.

The CDKN CCD Impact Research Fund was an open, competitive research call which launched in September 2014. This two-stage research call sought innovative proposals relating to policy-relevant knowledge gaps under four themes. See here for the full CIRF Terms of Reference. The thematic areas, each with a set of sub-topics, were:

  • Robust national plans for climate compatible development transitions
  • Enabling conditions for urban climate compatible development
  • Climate-related disaster risk management and adaptation
  • Climate compatible development and the water, energy and food security ‘nexus’

We funded ten projects from this research call. An on overview of these projects is available here.

Past projects

Research commissioned by CDKN prior to 2014 covered a broader range of themes and localities. The majority of these projects have now come to a close, but the project pages below provide links to their findings and resources.
