On 4 March, ValorandoNaturaleza.org, sister site to the EcosystemMarketplace.com, went live. Launched by Forest Trends and supported by CDKN, this new information platform is designed to generate and add quality information about evaluating and investing in ecosystem services in Latin America.

Forest Trends is a collaboration of forestry industry leaders, NGOs and environmental groups, which promotes marketplace approaches to forest conservation. Its members believe that the economy depends on having healthy ecosystems. Forests, for example, conserve soils, filter and regulate water, and help mitigate against climate change by storing carbon.

By providing accessible reliable information about policy, finance, science and other topics related to environmental incentives through Valorando Naturaleza, Forest Trends aims to make conserving nature and reducing pollution a foundation for economic and environmental systems. The hope is that this approach will lead to effective and equitable conservation of natural resources in the region.

The Spanish-language platform is based on the model established during the last eight years by Forest Trends’ Ecosystem Marketplace. This site posts information including annual reports, quantitative market tracking, weekly articles, daily news and news briefs about different aspects of the markets for ecosystem services.

Valorando Naturaleza will similarly provide original news coverage and in-depth analysis; daily news aggregation; profiles and opinion pieces by leaders in the region; listings of events, job openings, fellowships, courses, requests for bids and other opportunities; along with a library of relevant tools, reports, and multimedia resources.

If you wish ValorandoNaturaleza.org to consider posting news stories, event announcements or publications, you can get in touch at: contacto@valorandonaturaleza.org.

ValorandoNaturaleza.org will be represented at events in Washington DC, Chile and Colombia in the coming weeks, as well as at online Webinars. Check for details at http://www.valorandonaturaleza.com/eventos/
